This is obviously the most important post of this blog since hummus is still one of the best things in the world. More seriously (even if I was very serious), it’s an easy and economical source of vegetable protein to make, that you can easily slip into a sandwich to take away, spread or dip a few raw vegetables in as an appetizer. And now that you know how to make canned chickpeas, why deprive yourself of it?

And just to vary the pleasures, today we offer not one but five hummus recipes. A real colour chart since, in addition to classic hummus, we have pink, orange, green and black hummus. And many variations can still be imagined!

  • a small blender
  • 1 tablespoon

STEPS:

  1. Rinse legumes (chickpeas, beans or split peas).
  2. Mix all ingredients together.
  3. It is possible to add a little water to obtain a softer texture.

The classical hummus

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 can of cooked chickpeas
  • 3 tablespoons of tahini
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil (preferably olive oil)
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • salt, pepper, cumin, chilli 

Orange hummus with squash

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 can of cooked chickpeas
  • the same volume of cooked squash (steamed or boiled)
  • 3 tablespoons of tahini
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil (preferably olive oil)
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • salt, pepper, cumin, nutmeg

Green hummus with split peas

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 mug of cooked split peas
  • radish or carrot tops that have been boiled for 10 min (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons of tahini
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil (preferably olive oil)
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • salt, pepper, cumin, coriander powder

Pink hummus with beetroot

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 can of cooked chickpeas
  • 1 cooked beetroot (steamed or boiled)
  • 3 tablespoons of tahini
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil (preferably olive oil)
  • 3 cloves of garlic
